Nowadays, digital technologies are transforming buildings into smart socio-technical systems in which Internet of Things (IoT) infrastructures continuously generate large volumes of data, enabling innovative approaches such as Digital Twins, Virtual and Extended Reality, Process Mining, and Artificial Intelligence to support facility management, energy optimization, safety, and strategic decision-making.From a business informatics perspective, smart buildings raise critical research questions related to enterprise modeling, semantic interoperability, process management, and decision support. Detailed data generated by IoT devices requires abstraction mechanisms in order to be transformed into actionable knowledge. Semantic and data-driven approaches can convert heterogeneous event data into interpretable behavioral models, enabling behavioral analysis, performance assessment, and optimization. The DTSSB workshop aims to foster a community of researchers and practitioners, stimulating discussion on methods, approaches, and digital technologies that facilitate the design, integration, operation, and governance of innovative smart buildings. Conceptual, technical, application-oriented, and case-study contributions are all within the scope of the workshop.TopicsThe main topics include, but are not limited to:Digital Twins in Business Information Systems for Smart BuildingsEnterprise modeling for Smart BuildingsInformation systems architectures for Smart BuildingsInteroperability between BIM, IoT, Digital Twins, and facility management systemsSemantic data models and ontologies for Smart BuildingsKnowledge Graphs for integrated building information managementData governance, privacy, and security in Smart Building platformsProcess mining for operational and behavioral analysis in smart environmentsEvent log abstraction from IoT data for process intelligenceBusiness process optimization in Smart Building managementHybrid AI approaches for Smart BuildingsExplainable AI for Smart BuildingsAI-driven predictive maintenance and energy optimizationData analytics and business intelligence for Smart Building ecosystemsVirtual and Extended Reality and immersive analyticsHuman-centric and socio-technical perspectives in Smart BuildingsOrganizational and business models for Digital Twin adoptionSustainability and energy efficiency analytics in Smart BuildingsBuilding operation optimizationAssessment of building energy, occupancy, and indoor comfortCase studies and industrial applicationsThe UPRAISE networkDTSSB 2026 is promoted within the network of the UPRAISE project. UPRAISE addresses the development of advanced digital skills for Virtual Worlds and emerging technologies, including Extended Reality, Artificial Intelligence, Digital Twins, IoT, and sustainability-oriented digital innovation. The workshop contributes to the UPRAISE activities by fostering scientific discussion on smart and sustainable environments and related emerging digital technologies as key enablers of innovative education and training programmes that equip current and future professionals with advanced technological expertise.Additional informationIndustry - field of education and trainingGeneric programmes and qualifications not further definedTarget audienceDigital skills for ICT professionals and other digital experts.Digital skills for allGeographic scope - CountryAustriaBelgiumBulgariaCyprusRomaniaSloveniaCroatiaCzech republicDenmarkEstoniaFinlandFranceGermanyGreeceHungaryItalyIrelandMaltaLatviaLithuaniaLuxembourgNetherlandsPortugalPolandSwedenSpainSlovakiaShow moreShow lessTarget languageEnglishGeographical sphereInternational initiativeLog in to comment
