Stakeholders consultation on the "Skills for the Future" opinion

Virtual Live

The rapporteur, Ms Karolien Grosemans (BE/EA), is holding a stakeholders’ consultation as part of the preparation of the European Committee of the Regions' opinion on “Skills for the Future”.

The consultation will provide participants with the opportunity to share their expertise, good practices and concrete recommendations, thereby contributing to the preparation of the opinion. The opinion is expected to be adopted at the CoR plenary session in October 2026.

The opinion, requested by the Irish Presidency of the Council of the EU, will focus on the skills needed for the AI era, with particular attention to the role of local and regional authorities in developing STEM and AI-related skills, strengthening territorial ecosystems for innovation, education and lifelong learning, promoting digital skills and AI literacy, and ensuring that the transition to an AI-driven economy benefits all territories.

Should you wish to provide written contributions or position papers in advance of the consultation, please send them to sedec@cor.europa.eu.

Register here.

Kindly register no later than 30 August 2026 at 12:00 CET. The meeting will be held in English.

Further information, including the connection details and agenda, will be shared with registered participants in due course.
