Empowering human talent: winning the AI career with ethical training and leadership
The emergence of Generative Artificial Intelligence (AI) is not a simple technological evolution; It is the fourth industrial revolution, with an economic and social impact that we are already seeing grow exponentially. Spain consolidates itself as a technological hub in full expansion, driven by investment in data centers and a solid infrastructure, with great opportunities to lead the digital future. The challenge is no longer just to adopt AI, but to ensure that it is done with an ethical, safe, inclusive focus and in tune with human capabilities.
As Sonia Marzo, director of Artificial Intelligence Training at Microsoft Spain, highlighted, the race for AI has two fundamental axes: infrastructure (ensuring technical capacity) and training (massive and continuous training).
A General Purpose Technology: Opportunity and Gap
Historically, general-purpose technologies (such as printing or electricity) have transformed all sectors, and AI is doing so at an unprecedented speed. Its impact does not depend so much on who invents it, but on how we apply it to learn, create and solve real problems. This tool has the potential to be the most useful for humanity so far, to empower people and organizations, redefining the way we learn, work and create value.
The labor landscape is transformed by leaps and bounds. According to LinkedIn Work Trends report 2025 | 2 UNICEF & Education Commission | 3 WEF Future of Jobs Report 2025, a positive net balance of 78 million new jobs is expected by 2030. This is largely due to the rise of AI, robotics and the green transition.
However, this transformation generates a palpable talent gap:
- Skills Change: It is estimated that 70% of the required skills will change by 2030.
- Youth and Skills: A worrying 75% of young people still do not have the skills that the labour market will demand.
Spain exemplifies this duality: ranks fourth globally in the use of generative AI, according to Microsoft data, reflecting rapid adoption; But it falls to 14th place in the European ranking of availability of AI-trained professionals, according to LinkedIn data. This disparity underlines the urgency of massive training in artificial intelligence that is not limited to technical profiles.
The Central Axis: The Person in the Age of Augmented Talent
The future of work will be marked by collaboration between people and AI actors. The figure of the "Agent Boss" emerges, and the organizational charts of companies will evolve towards more liquid and result-oriented structures.
Faced with this reality, artificial intelligence has the potential to transform the way we work, learn and create value, allowing people to spend more time on tasks that require critical thinking, creativity and complex problem solving. To take full advantage of these opportunities, it is essential to invest in the continuous development of skills, both technical and human. That's why we promote upskilling and reskilling as essential pillars for responsible adoption of AI, driving a workforce capable of adapting, innovating and leading in the digital economy. Our commitment is to help each person and organization acquire the necessary skills to collaborate with technology and enhance their capabilities, thus fostering a culture of continuous learning and inclusive growth. Alliances to Win the Race
Winning the AI race requires a collective effort involving all social actors:
- Education as a Priority: Teacher training is vital. They must use AI to lighten the bureaucratic burden and, in turn, educate students in its ethical and responsible use. Thanks to artificial intelligence, teachers can offer much more personalized training, adapting to the diversity of the classroom and attending to the different nationalities and abilities of their students.
- Government and Civil Service: The Administration must lead by example, adopting AI to improve processes and ensure that training reaches all territories, closing the geographical gap.
- Civil Society: It is imperative to work with non-profit organisations, trade unions and foundations to ensure that no one is left behind. Access to AI training should be free, accessible and crucially ethical.
A concrete example of this commitment is the Microsoft Elevate initiative, which positions people at the center, and seeks to massively train citizens in AI free of charge, taking advantage of Spain's digital infrastructure as a competitive advantage.
For a student who wonders what to study, a teacher who rethinks how to teach or the owner of a business that manages a workforce, artificial intelligence is no longer theoretical. It's personal. And that's why we believe that some of the most important jobs ahead of us are not just building smarter machines, but ensuring that those machines help people thrive. And we want it to be for everyone, we want to democratize access to Artificial Intelligence technologies, ensuring that everyone has the opportunity to learn and benefit from AI.
Conclusion: A Call to Action
Artificial Intelligence is an inescapable reality that redefines the concept of talent. Spain has the infrastructure, the political will and a population willing to embrace technology.
The path should be guided by the commitment to responsible AI (transparency, fairness; reliability and security, privacy, inclusiveness and accountability,) and continuing training.
We are facing a unique opportunity to look to the future with optimism and to harness the potential of artificial intelligence as a driver of growth and progress. The real breakthrough lies not only in technology, but in people's ability to connect, learn and grow alongside it. This is the time to empower our intellectual and ethical capabilities, driving a culture of continuous learning and collaboration between people and technology to achieve more, together. When human talent is empowered by AI, we drive innovation, strengthen digital sovereignty, and open up new opportunities for progress for all.
The race for AI is not won with the fastest machine, but with the best connected and most prepared minds. Talent, assisted by AI, is the true engine of digital sovereignty and progress.
