Free training and certification of Artificial Intelligence (AI) skills by Microsoft

Skills and knowledge in Artificial Intelligence (AI) have become the third most important priority in companies’ education strategy worldwide – next to analytical and creative thinking. Responding to the market need for AI skills, and recognising the potential that training can offer to empower workers around the world, Microsoft is launching the AISkills initiative. The training Career Essentials in Generative AI by Microsoft and LinkedIn aims to help the wider public tap into the potential of AI, and is part of Microsoft’s Skills forJobs programme aimed at offering free introduction courses on General Artificial Intelligence (AI).

Course content

The training course offers a free training and certification in five comprehensive courses. The course was developed in cooperation with LinkedIn and is available through the platform.

The course is structured as follows:

  1. What Is Generative AI?
  2. Generative AI: The Evolution of Thoughtful Online Search
  3. Streamlining Your Work with Microsoft Bing Chat
  4. Ethics in the Age of Generative AI
  5. Introduction to Artificial Intelligence

By participating in the programme, learners will gain a comprehensive knowledge into the key concepts of Artificial Intelligence (AI) and to learn more specifically about the functionality of Generative AI. In addition, the course will offer the possibility to be more familiar with the most useful AI tools, train to distinguish differences between search engines and reasserting engines to create studied search strategies, and learn to use Microsoft Bing Chat to optimise workflows. This certification is another step in Microsoft’s effort to ensure that all workers have access to the latest AI tools.

In addition:

  • While the courses will initially be available in English, the content will be available in other languages in the near future.
  • Those who have completed the course will receive a certification, an important asset in their professional career.
  • Certification is already available in English and will be available free of charge until 2025.

The company is aware of the need to empower people with knowledge to be able to use their existing skills to make effective use of AI. So far, Microsoft itself has already trained around 70,000 women.
