REGIOSTARS 2025: Lithuanian projects among the 25 finalists
REGIOSTARS 2025

Two Lithuanian projects have made it to the 25 finalists of the prestigious REGIOSTARS 2025 European regional development competition, which is held annually by the European Commission.

In the category 3: A Connected Europe, the project "Connected Lithuania: Effective, Safe and Responsible Lithuanian Digital Community" is a finalist.

Implemented from 2018 to 2021, this project helped more than 500,000 people improve their digital skills through various digital literacy activities. Participants learned how to find news, access e-services, communicate online, and create and use other digital technologies.

Another Lithuanian project, "MoBiLait: Expanding Reading Access via Lithuanian Libraries for People with Print Disabilities" is a finalist in the category 5: A Europe Closer to Citizens.

This project created around 700 publications adapted for people with visual impairments or dyslexia. It also modernized the ELVIS system, improving the search and accessibility of adapted-format publications. Additionally, mobile apps were developed to make using ELVIS mobile tools more convenient and to link ELVIS with other national and international e-publication information systems.

Both projects were administered by the Central Project Management Agency (CPVA).

Background

Since its inception in 2008, REGIOSTARS has become Europe’s label of excellence for EU-funded projects that demonstrate the impact and inclusiveness of regional development. By putting forward solutions to common challenges and tapping into the biggest opportunities, REGIOSTARS has inspired regions to deliver ever more impactful EU regional policy.

In a next step, the public will be able to vote for their favourite finalist for the Public Choice Award.  The vote will begin on 2 September on the REGIOSTARS website.

The finalists will pitch their projects in front of a jury during the 23rd European Week of Regions and Cities. The winners will be announced at an award ceremony on 15 October.
