The wait is over! The winners of the European Digital Skills Awards 2025 have been announced. Five outstanding projects from across Europe are bringing home the trophy in their respective category.

The European Commission has launched a broad public consultation on the Digital Decade Policy Programme - inviting citizens, businesses, public authorities, regional and local governments, and civil society actors - to provide feedback. The aim is to assess whether the 2030 digital targets remain realistic and relevant in a fast-changing technological and societal landscape.

Thanks to the national project ‘Digital Allowance for Slovak Students’ (Digital Pupil), launched several months ago by the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation of the Slovak Republic (MIRRI SR), in cooperation with the Digital Coalition (DK), it is possible to receive a financial contribution for the purchase of a new computer or tablet for up to 152 thousand primary and secondary school pupils in the current school year. Therefore, in order to provide assistance to as many pupils as possible, DK, in cooperation with community centres, is currently launching fieldwork in marginalized Roma communities (MRCs). Dozens of fieldworkers across Slovakia will help hundreds of families from socially disadvantaged backgrounds already in the coming days with both registration and the actual process of obtaining and implementing the allowance.

Following a discussion by the Commission at the Slovakia 2021-2027 Monitoring Committee for Objective 1 on 11.7.2023, the Digital Skills for Slovakia’s Green Future Project was also added to the Digital Coalition projects.

The digital contribution to purchase a new laptop, tablet or all-in-one computer is of great interest among primary and secondary school pupils. Already this month, as part of the Digital Pupil project, up to 20000 pupils will be able to benefit from a contribution of EUR 350 to purchase a new digital device. The joint project of the Ministry of Investment, Regional Development and Informatisation of the Slovak Republic (MIRRI SR) and the Digital Coalition is thus brought to its decisive stage.

The Digital Decade policy programme 2030 entered in force: the European Parliament, Member States and the Commission have jointly set for the first time concrete objectives and targets in four key areas of digital skills.
