The annual campaign “Digital Week 2023” took place in Latvia from April 24 to 28. A wide programme of face-to-face and online digital upskilling events was offered to citizens by Liepaja Municipal Education department and the Digital Innovation Park in cooperation with more than 15 partners.

Ana Pejić, Project Manager at the Digital Innovation Hub Slovenia (DIH Slovenia) spoke about the skills needs and shortages in digital profiles across sectors in Slovenia. Hear her tips on bridging the digital gap by 2030.

An incredible 330 applications were received for the European Digital Skills Awards 2023 edition. With 93 applications in Digital Skills for Education, 88 in Inclusion in the Digital World, 60 in Digital Upskilling @ Work, 36 in Women in ICT Careers, and 52 in Empowering Youth in Digital, it's clear that the future of digital skills is looking brighter than ever.

On 18 April, in the context of the European Year of Skills, the European Commission has adopted two proposals aimed at supporting the development of digital skills among European citizens. The proposals address the lack of a whole-of-government approach to digital education and training, as well as difficulties in equipping people with the necessary digital skills.

On 18 April 2023, the European Commission has presented the Cybersecurity Skills Academy, a single point of entry for cybersecurity training offers, certifications and funding opportunities. Through the creation of this Academy, the European Commission wants to ensure a coordinated approach towards closing the cybersecurity talent gap.
