"Circuit Building Blocks for Communication Systems (CBBC)" is an online course, developed within the framework of GreenChips-EDU - an EU-backed initiative with the support of the Digital Europe Programme of the European Union.

GreenChips-EDU is an education venture, aimed at training essential specialists for the European semiconductor industry. By aligning education with sustainability principles, the EU project emphasizes green applications in the energy sector and empowers students to develop the skills needed to support a sustainable and circular economy.

About this course

CBBC (Circuit Building Blocks for Communication Systems) is a master level course offered by TU Darmstadt. It is a completely digitalized course, meaning, that no presence in a lecture hall of TU Darmstadt is required.

Learning outcomes

A student is, after successful completion of this module, able to understand

• The essential circuit building blocks of a communication system and able to describe them on transistor level
• Protocols and hardware-implementations of high-speed bus-systems
• Clock/data recovery techniques (DLL, PLL, Timing Recovery)
• Aspects of error-detection and – avoidance
• Application for high-speed DRAM/memory systems

Please contact us by email. The course is fully digitalized, and can therefore be started any time. There will be a written exam by about mid-end of February (for the offering in every winter term) resp. end of July (for the offering in every summer term), which is physically done in Darmstadt, but participation remotely is possible. The recognition of the exam result is possible by VECP, if you are a student of a Unite! university.
