Fundamentals of Artificial Intelligence is a Massive Open Online Course (MOOC), designed by Vilnius Gediminas Technical University (VILNIUS TECH) within the framework of the Digital Europe Programme-funded MERIT project. 

The aim of MERIT, which stands for "Master of Science in Smart, Secure and Interconnected Systems", is to increase the number of digital specialists via specialised courses. Under the project, 5 new specialised masters in areas like Artificial Intelligence (AI), big data, and cybersecurity have been developed. 

About this course

This course provides a comprehensive introduction to artificial intelligence, combining theoretical foundations with hands-on practical experience. Participants will explore the evolution of AI, key terminology, and its role in modern computer science and industry. The course covers essential data preparation techniques, including data handling, cleaning, and feature engineering, before introducing both supervised and unsupervised machine learning methods.

Learners will gain practical experience using widely adopted AI tools to build, evaluate, and interpret machine learning models. The course also introduces data visualisation techniques and highlights current trends and innovations in AI research, equipping participants with the knowledge and practical skills required to begin working with artificial intelligence solutions.

Prerequisites
