Eureka Globalstars call with Japan

Context 

Eureka is the world’s biggest public network for international cooperation in research and development (R&D) and innovation, present in over 45 countries. This call for projects has been launched by Japan and the United Kingdom national funding bodies following Eureka’s Globalstars framework.

The call welcomes all R&D projects except those related to nuclear power or drug discovery. Eligible fields include - but are not limited to - quantum technologies, artificial intelligence, robotics, semiconductors, electronics, energy and environmental solutions, biotechnology, advanced materials, medical devices, aerospace, mining, and other industrial innovations.

Eligibility

To participate to the consortium a beneficiary:

  • Must be an international R&D cooperation project between Japan and at least one other Eureka country.
  • Should aim to research or develop an innovative product, process, or service with clear commercial potential.
  • Must have a civilian (non-military) purpose.
  • Consortium must include at least two independent legal entities.
  • No partner or country can cover more than 70% of the total project budget.
  • Project duration must be between 12 and 36 months.
  • A project consortium agreement covering execution and commercialisation must be signed before project start and submitted to national funding agencies after evaluation results.
  • The organisations forming the consortium have to be based in one of the following countries: Austria, Belgium (Flanders), Canada, Denmark, France, Israel, Japan, Lithuania, Luxembourg, Norway, Singapore, South Africa, South Korea, Spain, Sweden, United Kingdom.

Timeline

  • Apply from: 14 October 2025
  • Submission Deadline: 21 January 2026
  • National funding procedures: 27 April 2026 or after
  • Projects can begin (expected): 1 July 2026
