DIS4SME Course catalogue

DIS4SME offers a series of specialised free courses that train SME managers and technicians in the effective use of location and other spatial data, aligned with the latest European policies and technology trends. Our courses cover key sectors such as digital agriculture, urban mobility, direct-to-consumer commerce, advanced urban planning, and data interoperability in general.

On our Moodle platform, the courses are delivered in a self-learning format, allowing participants to progress at their own pace. They are designed for SME managers, technicians and anyone interested in using location data in sector-specific contexts.

Courses

Introduction to Location Data Interoperability 

For managers

This course focuses on interoperability-related trends within the EU data policy framework and provides the skills needed to integrate location data into business processes and to assess the impact of location data interoperability on companies’ digital transformation.

For technicians

This course addresses technicians and professionals, exploring the impact of INSPIRE requirements and recommendations on SDI components (metadata, data, and services). It covers compliance with the High-Value Dataset Regulation, the adoption of FAIR principles, and challenges in Data Space implementation, while equipping participants with tools to apply key GI standards to ensure location data interoperability.

Furthermore, DIS4SME has released a set of free, online, self-paced courses designed to help SMEs understand and apply interoperable location data in specific sectors such as agriculture, mobility, and urban planning.

Mobile Food Marketplace

This course introduces how location data can support digital marketplace applications, helping SMEs understand how geospatial information enhances service delivery, customer engagement, and operational efficiency.

Digital Agriculture

This course introduces managers, technicians, and job seekers to the technical concepts, challenges, and implications of location data interoperability within the digital agriculture sector.

Digital Solutions for Transport and Mobility Challenges

Designed for SMEs working in mobility, transport, or urban solutions, this course explores how interoperable datasets can help address mobility challenges, optimise transport systems, and support smart city innovation.

3D, BIM and Digital Twins for Urban Planning

A specialised course covering the basics of 3D data, BIM–GIS integration, and the role of digital twins in shaping future urban planning processes.
