Methods and Tools for Resilient Industrial IoT - EIT Digital Summer School

Overview

In today's highly automated plants in the production industry, large amounts of data are generated creating complexity. With production plants distributed worldwide, this furthers the complexity generated. While the collected data can be analysed across plants through various means this increased complexity can lead to changes in the technical infrastructure of companies and consequently human tasks. Human intervention is rare in the production process but monitoring the production process for errors remains under their responsibility in case of errors. Therefore, the information acquired through this process must be provided to the operating personnel.

This EIT Digital Summer School programme aims to address topics and issues around managing large amounts of data for resilient industrial Internet of Things (IoT). The first week of this programme will see students learn about methods, concept and tools such as SysML, BPMN, and Data Mining methods along with the basics of market analysis, IT-enabled business model innovation, and business ecosystem analysis. This first portion will be delivered in collaboration with industry partners and students will be able to study real industry examples and use cases. The second week of this EIT Digital Summer School programme is focused on teamwork. Students will develop and evaluate business models based on real-world examples from our industry partners and use the theories learned in the first week to implement an ecosystem analysis. This second portion aims to give students a hands-on approach to their newly acquired techniques and knowledge and to present innovative solutions.
