Network security fundamentals TCP/IP protocols - Cyberpro Train

Start Date
13.January.2026
End date
15.Jan.2026

This course provides a foundational understanding of network security principles with a focus on the TCP/IP protocol suite. Learners will explore common threats, security devices, and defense strategies used to protect networked systems. Emphasis is placed on securing TCP/IP-based networks through practical configurations, vulnerability analysis, and diagnostic tools. The course also includes insights into network segmentation as a security practice and examines current and emerging trends in network security. It is divided into two main parts:

  • Network Security Fundamentals: Introduction to key security concepts, devices, segmentation, and trends.
  • TCP/IP Protocols and Security: Deep dive into the TCP/IP model, its layers, associated vulnerabilities, security implementations, and troubleshooting methods.

Main objectives

The main objectives of this course are to

  • Identify common network threats and develop strategies to mitigate them.
  • Understand and utilize key network security devices (e.g., firewalls, IDS/IPS, etc.).
  • Implement network segmentation to enhance organizational security posture.
  • Study the structure and functions of the TCP/IP protocol stack.
  • Analyze vulnerabilities within the TCP/IP model and assess their impact.
  • Apply security configurations and diagnostic tools to protect and troubleshoot TCP/IP networks.

Outcomes

Upon completion, participants will be able to

  • Describe core concepts and importance of network security in modern infrastructures.
  • Recognize various cyber threats and explain how to defend against them.
  • Evaluate and deploy appropriate network security devices in a network environment.
  • Design and implement network segmentation strategies for improved security.
  • Analyze the TCP/IP model and identify vulnerabilities within its layers.
  • Configure routers and switches securely to protect TCP/IP-based networks.
  • Use diagnostic tools (e.g., ping, traceroute, Wireshark) to detect, troubleshoot, and resolve network connectivity and performance issues.

Target

Professionals, including SME employees and Public Administration staff, looking to enhance their cybersecurity knowledge.
