APDSI – Association for the Promotion and Development of the Information Society
 
Association for the Promotion and Development of the Information Society (APDSI) is a Portuguese, non-government organisation, not-for-profit, which mobilises Government, political parties, companies, other NGOs and citizens around 5 causes related to the Information Society.
Association's mission:
- Provide a forum for debates about the Information Society; 
- Be a lobby to guide and pressure the government, its institutions and the private sector with the aim of maximising the benefits towards an Information Society; 
- Raise the skills and competences in the domain of the Information Society; 
- Promote good practices in the market towards the development of the Information and Knowledge Society. 
The main objectives:
- The association promotes and develops the Information and Knowledge Society in Portugal; 
- In the pursuit of this objective, the Association may develop all and any activity necessary or convenient, namely: - Inform, advise e lobby the state on political and legal matters concerning the Information and Knowledge Society; 
- Inform citizens, enterprises and other entities on matters pertaining to the Information and Knowledge Society; 
- Contribute in the fight for info/digital - divide; 
- Support and promote activities such that the benefits of the Information Society reach one and all citizens; 
- Promote and invigorate projects of public use within the scope of the Information and Knowledge Society; 
- Participate with associations, cooperatives, societies or other collectives so long as within the objectives of the Association; 
- Establish protocols and agreements with entities that are willing to collaborate towards the objective of the Association.
