BUILD UP Skills – Upskilling and Reskilling Interventions for Building Decarbonisation Created bySabina Párraga Pérez|Updated02 May 2025SummaryThis call aims to support the upskilling and reskilling of building professionals across Europe to deliver high-energy performance renovations and nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEBs), by developing and implementing training and qualification schemes aligned with the EU Green Deal, the 2030 climate objectives, and the long-term goal of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050.ContextLaunched in 2011, the BUILD UP Skills initiative supports the upskilling of building professionals across Europe to deliver high-energy performance renovations and nearly Zero-Energy Buildings (nZEBs). This effort is sustained through the rollout of ambitious training and qualification interventions aligned with the EU Green Deal, the EU’s 2030 climate objectives, and the long-term strategy of achieving carbon neutrality by 2050. Key ObjectivesExpand or establish national platforms focused on energy efficiency skills.Implement national skills roadmaps with clear action plans and commitments.Promote awareness and demand for energy efficiency professions.Ensure wide stakeholder engagement, especially from public authorities, training providers, industry, and SMEs.Address cooperation gaps and improve governance between actors in the skills ecosystem.ScopesScope A: Develop, test, validate, and prepare the deployment of new and/or upgraded training and qualification schemes for professionals involved in the building value chain.
