Global Multistakeholder High Level Conference on Governance of Web 4.0 and Virtual Worlds

Virtual Live

On 31 March and 1 April 2025, the European Commission and the 2025 Polish Presidency of the Council of the EU are organising a Global Multistakeholder High-Level Conference on the governance of Web 4.0 and Virtual Worlds.

About the event

The event will bring together policymakers, technologists, academics, and community leaders from around the world to explore governance models for virtual worlds. Discussions will focus on policy approaches for Web 4.0, standardization (including Internet standards), and the technical management of virtual worlds. The alignment of governance frameworks with the multi-stakeholder model of Internet governance will also be examined.

A conference outcome paper will summarize key insights from these discussions, outlining policy and technical considerations for the future governance of Web 4.0 and virtual worlds.
