How to Improve Europeans’ Digital Skillset?

Event location
Square de Meeûs 1, 1000 Brussels, Belgium

The Finnish Digital Network in Brussels organises a panel discussion on 3 May in Brussels from 9:00-10:30, with the title: How to Improve Europeans’ Digital Skillset – Views from the Public and Private Sector. The discussion will explore how we can improve the digital skillsets of Europeans in different professional sectors and the added value that the EU can bring to the table. The topic will be discussed putting together two perspectives: the public and the private sector, all in the context of the upcoming European Year of Skills.

The European Commission aims to elevate the level of digital skills in Europe, among others through their new “Digital Skills and Education Package”. What kind of actions can be taken at the EU level to support the provision of digital skills and to foster a high-performing digital education ecosystem in Europe? How can we make sure that the education and training sector can keep up with the quickly changing skills needs of Europe’s industrial ecosystems?

Speakers:
•    Georgi Dimitrov (European Commission)
•    Leena Pöntynen (Technology Industries of Finland)
•    Alessandra Zini (Digital SME Alliance)
•    Finnish local authority representative (tbc)

The event is a collaboration between Helsinki EU Office, Technology Industries of Finland, and the Association of Finnish Local and Regional Authorities on behalf of the Finnish Digital Network in Brussels.
