NGI FORUM 2023: Unlocking the power of Digital Commons

Event location
1000 Bruxelles, Belgium

The mission of the Next Generation Internet (NGI) is to re-imagine and re-engineer the internet. It is an initiative of the European Commission designed to support European research and innovation efforts aimed at creating an Internet of Trust, empowering end-users with more choice and control over their data and digital identity. A human-centric internet that is safer, open, responds to environmental challenges and adheres to the European Digital Rights and Principles.

The NGI Forum 2023 is part of the NGI initiative and aims to explore key building blocks of the human-centric internet of tomorrow. This year’s NGI Forum places the spotlight on the concept of digital commons. Digital commons are particularly important for Europe as they foster equal access to information, fuel innovation, and bolster digital sovereignty.

Through inspirational talks, plenary discussions, and workshops, the NGI Forum 2023 will explore a diverse array of topics, such as:

  • the potential of digital commons to underpin the transition to the future internet;
  • the future of digital identity;
  • the challenges and opportunities arising from open web search and large language models;
  • the ways to ensure the security of the open-source supply chain;
  • the best practices and challenges in scaling up decentralised social media;
  • the potential of the quantum internet.

This free event is open for the general public. Visit the NGI Forum’s website to learn more about the event, the and other practical information.
