Protecting the Younger Generation in the Digital World 2.0: Lisbon Executive Breakfast

Event location
Lisboa, Portugal

Today's teenagers grow up in a world where digital technologies are an integral part of learning, social interaction, entertainment and personal expression. While the digital environment offers significant opportunities, it also presents constantly evolving challenges that require a continuous and collective response.

Creating a safer digital environment requires a multidimensional approach that combines technological innovation, effective security measures, digital literacy and the active involvement of families, educators, policymakers, regulators, civil society and industry. As technology continues to evolve, enhancing online security depends on collaboration, shared responsibility, and a commitment to continuous improvement.

About this event

The executive breakfast on the topic of "Protecting Adolescents in the Digital World 2.0" will take place on 15 September 2026 from 9:00 to 12:00, in Lisbon, Portugal. The event, organised by APDC in partnership with TikTok, will bring together representatives from academia, digital literacy initiatives, policymakers, regulators, civil society organisations and digital platforms to exchange perspectives on the future of online safety.

Topics and themes: focus on online safety for youngsters

The discussion will focus on three main themes: digital literacy and empowerment, the evolving regulatory landscape, and the role of innovation, collaboration and best practices in promoting the safety and digital well-being of adolescents.

The aim is to foster constructive dialogue, strengthen collaboration across the ecosystem and identify practical ways to help adolescents benefit from the opportunities of the digital world in an increasingly safe, informed and responsible environment.
