Safer Internet Day 2025

Blended,
On Location

Safer Internet Day (SID) is an annual global event that raises awareness about online safety and addresses issues such as, among others, cyberbullying, digital identity, and responsible internet use. Launched in 2004 as part of the EU SafeBorders project and taken up by the Insafe network in 2005, SID is now celebrated in over 180 countries worldwide. SID is organised within the framework of the Better Internet for Kids (BIK) initiative by the Insafe network (coordinated by European Schoolnet) and INHOPE (the International Association of Internet Hotlines), on behalf of the European Commission.

The campaign aims to empower everyone, from young people, to teachers, and policymakers to make the best use of online technology while promoting safer digital practices. Safer Internet Centres and SID Committees worldwide lead local campaigns, offering resources and events to encourage safe online behaviour.

In 2025, the theme will be “Together for a better internet”, highlighting the importance of collaboration among all stakeholders to improve online safety, especially for children and young people.

The official SID website showcases activities happening globally throughout February and it highlights SID supporters, and offers a variety of multilingual resources to help organisations, schools, and individuals contribute to the cause.
