DWLatvia26

With 383 organizations from all over Latvia participating and cooperating, the “Digital Week 2026 in Latvia” took place from March 16 to 20. More than 38,500 participants joined in-person and online events to improve digital skills with a particular focus on AI, data literacy and cybersecurity.

Digital Week 2026 in Latvia organized from 16 to 20 March, was focusing on key topics such as artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, information literacy, and the new European Digital Competence Framework DigComp 3.0. A total of 383 partners were involved, including 270 schools and libraries in Latvia’s regions. The educational campaign was organized by LIKTA in cooperation with the National Digital skills and Jobs Coalition partners and main partners: the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre, the Ministry of Smart Administration and Regional Development, the Ministry of Education and Science, and the Culture Information Systems Centre.

"Seeing the enthusiasm of the participants, I am pleased to conclude that the interest of organizations and citizens in Digital Week is growing every year. This year, the number of partner organizations involved reached 383. Next year, Digital Week in Latvia will celebrate a milestone—its 18th anniversary. This is a testament to the commitment of Latvian society to keep up with technology and work on developing their skills,” says Prof. Signe Bāliņa, President of LIKTA.

“Artificial intelligence and digital technologies have opened up new opportunities for Latvia, but our task is to ensure that they are used safely, responsibly and for the benefit of society. This also means strengthening digital skills and media literacy so that people can recognize manipulations, including deepfakes,” notes Raimonds Čudars, Minister of Smart Administration and Regional Development.

“The discussions held during Digital Week served as a reminder that technological development does not mean the role of humanity will decrease; on the contrary, it will become increasingly important. It is our shared responsibility to ensure that AI helps us become smarter, stronger, and more humane. This is precisely the direction in which we want to move the Latvian education system,” emphasizes Jānis Paiders, State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science.

Public education and raising awareness of emerging challenges are the most vital elements to enhance security and prevent cyber threats. Digital Week, with its extensive range of events, acts like a 'vitamin boost' for digital transformation, fostering new skills and improving security!” emphasizes Ģirts Ozols, Chairman of the Board of the Latvian State Radio and Television Centre.

“Digital Week 2026 confirmed that artificial intelligence in Latvia is no longer just a future concept, but a practical, working solution. It is increasingly helping public administration operate more efficiently and create digital services that are more intuitive and convenient for users,” emphasizes Jānis Ziediņš, Deputy Director for Digital Development at the Culture Information Systems Centre.

LIKTA Digital Week team thanks all the thematic partners and regional partners for their contribution to the organisation of Digital Week 2026.
