Reed the stories of inspiring women and add your own
GirlsInDigital

Digital skills are becoming an increasingly important part of education and professional development. To highlight how people in different countries and fields contribute to the development of coding and digital skills, the European initiative EU Code Week, in cooperation with partners across Europe, has launched the “Role Models” platform. This platform shares the stories of inspiring individuals from across Europe who are actively involved in technology and digital education.

The Role Models platform is an online database featuring stories about teachers, mentors, technology enthusiasts, and community leaders who are actively engaged in promoting digital skills. These stories provide insights into different pathways into technology and show how individuals support others in developing these skills. They highlight both professional challenges and practical solutions that help foster interest in programming and digital thinking.

The information shared on the platform can be valuable for educators, students, parents, and anyone interested in better understanding the importance of digital skills and the opportunities available to develop them.

At the same time, Role Models is not only a place to read about the experiences of others. It also offers an opportunity to contribute and share your own story. If you have experience in digital education, technology, or community initiatives related to coding and digital skills, you can register on the platform and share your perspective. This exchange of experiences helps create a broader and more diverse picture of digital skills development across Europe.

We invite you to explore the Role Models database and read the inspiring stories shared by participants, as well as consider contributing your own experience. Reading and sharing stories is a practical way to support the development of digital literacy and strengthen the professional community in this field.

In particular, we encourage women to join this database. To highlight the role of women in the digital world and promote the participation of girls and women in the IT sector, Code4Europe is organising Girls in Digital Week across Europe from 23 to 27 March. Schools, libraries, and other organisations are invited to organise events that help girls and young women develop digital skills.
