WSA – Lithuania’s victory in the global contest for meaningful digital innovation
The beginning of 2026 brings good news for Lithuanian digital solution developers – the Lithuanian-nominated EditAI solution has become one of the winners of the WSA Global Digital Innovation Competition.
The WSA Network of National Experts, representing 182 United Nations member states, nominated digital solutions from around the world for the global competition. After months of evaluation, the best projects reached the final, the WSA Grand Jury, which this year met in Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. The international jury selected 40 winners, 5 in each of the 8 competition categories.
About the EditAI platform
One of the winners of this prestigious competition in the category ‘Learning and Education’ was EditAI, a smart platform developed in Lithuania to help teachers integrate global phenomena into their daily education process (https://editai.co). It is an AI-driven "digital twin of a teacher", addressing one of the most pressing challenges of modern education: growing burnout among teachers, lack of student engagement, and lack of personalised education.
The platform allows teachers to create real-world lessons in a matter of minutes, aligned with national curricula, and adapted to the different abilities of students, including children with special educational needs.
Currently, EditAI is used in more than 190 schools across 9 countries by more than 8,000 teachers, and in practice a reduction of up to 40% in lesson preparation time and a 62% increase in student motivation levels have been recorded.
“From the very beginning, we have developed EditAI as a practical tool for teachers to create engaging, teaching and learning activities that allow students to better understand how the topics addressed in educational programmes relate to the real world. Our aim is to reduce teacher preparation time and increase student engagement. We want teachers to be able to focus more on meaningful activities and direct contact work with students. The WSA assessment confirms that education is not about the complexity of technology, but about making a real difference in teachers' and students' daily lives. We expect to reach 50,000 schools around the world and we are proud that the solution developed in Lithuania is noticed and appreciated on a global scale, which is an important signal that not only technologically advanced but also meaningful educational solutions are born in our country, creating long-term impact." - Kristina Jonkuvienė and Kęstutis Jovaišas, EditAI team.
The winners of the World Summit Awards will meet at the WSA World Congress in Vienna in May 2026. During the Congress, the winners will present their solutions, meet with international experts and mentors, participate in training sessions and be honoured during the solemn award ceremony.
