Detecting Phishing Attacks and Competing in Training Challenges

This course provides a practical, hands-on introduction to recognising phishing emails using the Montimage Phishing Detection Training Platform, an interactive tool that teaches detection through progressive levels, real-time AI feedback and gamified challenges. Participants inspect realistic emails, decide whether each is phishing, explain why, and rate its risk — building a skill that technical filters alone cannot provide.

Course objectives

• Understand what phishing is, why it works, and how email phishing attacks are structured
• Recognise the common types of phishing attacks
• Apply a repeatable six-point checklist to identify suspicious emails
• Rate the severity of a threat using a five-level risk scale
• Train through four progressive difficulty levels with real-time AI feedback across realistic email-client themes
• Track detection accuracy over time and take part in challenges, earning badges and certificates

By the end of this course, participants will be able to reliably spot and rate phishing emails in everyday work, strengthening the human 'last line of defence' against social-engineering attacks.
