HCAIM - Foundation of AI

The HCAIM (Human-Centered AI Master) program includes a comprehensive module on the Foundations of AI as part of Technical Focus: Foundations of AI, focusing on essential concepts and techniques in the field of artificial intelligence. This module emphasizes foundational activities such as understanding data, exploratory data analysis, inference, prediction, and decision theory.

The Technical Focus lesson plan on Foundation of AI combines theoretical lectures and tutorials. Key areas covered include General AI with lectures on the historical introduction to scientific explanation models and understanding data. Data exploration for machine learning features tutorials and lectures on understanding data, exploratory data analysis (EDA), and inference and prediction.

Additionally, the module covers machine learning fundamentals, with lectures, and tutorials on model evaluation, model fitting, and optimization. Decision theory is also explored through lectures and tutorials on decision theory and decision networks. Each topic includes a lecture to introduce the concepts and practical sessions to apply these techniques on real-world data.

This module is designed to provide students with the necessary skills to understand and implement foundational AI techniques effectively and ethically across various domains. For more information, students can visit the HCAIM consortium’s homepage.
