Production Digitalization – MERIT Short Course Series
MERIT is a project co-funded by the European Union under the Digital Europe Programme, carried out by four European universities along with research centers, SMEs, and digital innovation hubs. Its goal is to improve digital skills across Europe through new and updated master’s programs in artificial intelligence, cybersecurity, and the Internet of Things (IoT).
To make advanced knowledge more accessible, the MERIT project also provides short-term courses that focus on key industrial digitalization skills. One of these courses is the Production Digitalization – Short Course Series, developed by Tallinn University of Technology (TalTech). The course offers participants a practical understanding of how digital tools are transforming modern manufacturing.
Course Overview
This short course covers the essential concepts of digital manufacturing, simulation, and performance analysis. Participants will learn to use professional software tools to model production lines, simulate workflows, and assess system performance under different conditions. The course includes process optimization, digital twins, and the use of virtual reality (VR) for visualizing and enhancing production layouts.
By the end of the course, participants will understand how digitalization promotes more efficient, flexible, and sustainable manufacturing operations and how data-driven decision-making boosts productivity.
