KU Leuven is a research university in the Dutch-speaking city of Leuven in Flanders, Belgium.

Founded in 1425, KU Leuven conducts teaching and research in a variety of subjects: natural sciences, engineering, humanities, medicine, law, business, and social sciences. The university is a co-founder of the League of European Research Universities (LERU), and offers a wide variety of international masters programmes, through a focus on high-quality, innovative, interdisciplinary research. KU Leuven also offers several degree programmes in campuses in 11 Belgian cities, including Brussels, Ghent and Antwerp. 

The university offers many free Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs), which can be audited free of charge. Students can also receive a certificate (for a fee). Online courses cover topics across disciplines, from humanities and architecture to information and communication technology (ICT), digitalisation, web security and fundamentals of big data.
