Universidad Politécnica de Madrid, the Technical University of Madrid is a public university, located in Madrid, Spain. It was founded in 1971 as the result of merging different Technical Schools of Engineering and Architecture. Today, the university brings together close to 40,000 students for higher education programmes on undergraduate, postgraduate and higher level. Universidad Politécnica de Madrid has a strong focus on the discipline of engineering: it has several engineering schools and faculties that frequently rank amongst the top in Europe. Specialisations in this area include: forestry, industrial, civil and biomedical engineering amongst others. Another key focus is architecture, urban planning and design.
