Fighting Misinformation Online Brussels Summit

Google, in partnership with YouTube, the European University Institute (EUI), and the Calouste Gulbenkian Foundation is hosting the Fighting Misinformation Online summit. This event brings together European policymakers, NGOs, media organisations, academics and tech companies to exchange, collaborate, and share knowledge on how to tackle misinformation.
The event will be split into a morning session focused on interactive breakout sessions allowing participants to collaborate with event speakers and other delegates and subject matter experts who will be involved in the afternoon plenary session. Speakers for this event include:
- Jon Ronson, journalist and author of Them: Adventures With Extremists
- Krisztina Stump, Head of Unit, Media Convergence and Social Media, European Commission
- Alexander Stubb, former President of Finland and Director at the European University Institute
- Tali Sharot, Professor of Cognitive Neuroscience, University College London
- Rasmus Kleis Nielsen, Director, Reuters Institute for the Study of Journalism
Alongside the morning and afternoon programme, participants will have networking opportunities along with group discussions on topics that include balancing the threat of misinformation and the right to free speech, whether media literacy needs to be on the school curriculum in Europe, and how to quantify the effectiveness of misinformation interventions.
This event is a great opportunity to not only hear from experts in the misinformation landscape but also to network and exchange with a community focused on tackling misinformation. Make sure to register to not miss out on this event.
