European Initiatives

e-Skills Match is an EU-funded initiative, which offers a learning technology demo-platform, operating on a European level to support training for reaching the essential digital competences and e-skills required by citizens and businesses to remain competitive in the information and communication technology (ICT) sector.

The initiative stems from the need to improve the level of interoperability of career websites in Europe. For this purpose, e-Skills Match platform first classifies the ICT and digital skills according to the European e-Competence and ESCO frameworks. Then, it links those identified skills to the required qualifications of the professions in the ICT sector with the aim of enhancing employment and facilitating matchmaking between recruiters and jobseekers.

Results on skills and competences is combined with tailored suggestions on open learning platforms and further upskilling trainings, with the aim of providing Massive Open Online Courses (MOOCs) and Open Educational Resources (OERs) to support the development of digital capacity for everyone. The initiative offers to individuals three main tools: a self-assessment tool, an e-Portfolio and a Courses finder, to guide users towards an improved understanding of the skills required to advance in their careers and upskill their knowledge further.

The project operates on a European level with a specific focus on 4 countries: Italy, Spain, Sweden, and Greece.
