European Initiatives
EU institutional initiative

Launched in 2017 under the political guidance of the European Parliament's Panel for the Future of Science and Technology (STOA), the goal of the European Science-Media Hub (ESMH) is to offer an environment in which various stakeholders can discuss and collaborate on cross-cutting aspects between media and science. The initiative targets scientists, media professionals, journalists and policymakers on a national and European level, serving as an authoritative centre for information, networking and education in the field of science journalism.

Through various seminars, workshops and events on science and media topics, the ESMH promotes the dissemination of reliable and evidence-based information whilst creating a network between scientists, education and research institutions and media. The initiative also provides an opportunity for journalists to attend mentoring programmes and coaching sessions online, and encourage the sharing of knowledge and good practices.

The European Science-Media Hub also makes information on new scientific developments available and accessible to journalists and media professionals and offers monitoring and media intelligence tools to track popular topics in the field of science.
