Skills for data protection (2019)

This position paper issued in 2019 by the International Computer Driving Licence (ICDL) Foundation highlights the importance of developing workers’ skills for data protection.
The publication aims to contribute to the debate on data protection, arguing that data protection is not only important for Data Protection Officers. It suggests that workers who do not understand data protection are a risk for their employers. Furthermore, it is essential to acquire skills for data protection in a structured way. Employers should not assume that employees will gain these skills without any of their support.
