Up and ahead: skills for a more resilient EU workforce

Event location
Belgium

With digitalisation, robotisation, and automation changing the nature of jobs at an unprecedented rate, Bruegel seeks to examine how reskilling and upskilling initiatives can be used to protect vulnerable groups of the workforce and how a more resilient workforce can be built for a better functioning EU labour market. This event will be split into two sessions with the first focusing on young labour market entrants and how their labour market integration can be supported through reskilling projects and policies. The second session will look at mid-career workers who are changing careers as well as the skills needed to support the twin transition.

Participants will get to hear from a variety of speakers representing industry, policy, and academics. These include:

  • Alexa Joyce, Future Skills Director at Microsoft
  • Victor Negrescu, Vice-Chair, Committee on Culture and Education, European Parliament
  • Julie Fionda, Deputy Head of Unit, Skills Agenda, European Commission, DG EMPL
  • Jürgen Siebel, Executive Director, CEDEFOP
  • Minh-Huy Lai, Chief Operating Officer, Europe, Generation

Registration is required for this event for online and in person participation.
