CONNECT University & HiPEAC Vision: Computing research in next 10 years

Virtual Live

On 13 January 2025, HiPEAC is teaming up with CONNECT University to offer a session on the next edition of the HiPEACVision. In the wake of the Draghi report and increasing concern over the computing technology sector in Europe, the HiPEAC Vision sets out a route for computing research in Europe, from edge to cloud to high-performance computing, ranging across the computing continuum, artificial intelligence, software tools, cybersecurity and sustainability.

About the HiPEAC Vision

The HiPEAC Vision outlines the future of European computing research, focusing on areas like edge computing, cloud, AI, cybersecurity, and sustainability. With growing concerns in the tech sector, this vision explores how computing can evolve in the next 10 years. Key trends, including AI, cyberattacks, and the increasing integration of systems with the physical world, are driving change in computing. The Vision introduces the "Next Computing Paradigm" (NCP), which envisions a federated network of distributed elements working together as a unified computing system. This approach leverages Europe's strengths in edge devices and small businesses.

What to expect

  • Vision & Context: The impact of AI, cyberattacks, and the physical world integration.

  • Next Computing Paradigm (NCP): A new approach where distributed systems form a continuous computing network.

  • Technical Convergence: Merging web technologies, AI, IoT, and digital twins.

  • Human-Machine Integration: A seamless connection between machines and humans.

  • Everything as a Service (XaaS): AI-powered services combined to form applications.

  • Orchestration & Interoperability: Smart systems to manage complex interactions, ensuring efficiency and security.
