Digital reskilling: empowering under-resourced communities on both sides of the Atlantic

Bruegel is organising an online event on October 17 from 3:45 to 4:00 pm.
Digitalisation and new technologies have radically transformed economies and labour forces and will continue to do so. Consequently, remaining competitive will require a workforce with the skills needed to meet the new demands and jobs brought about by digital transformation. These skills will range from general digital literacy to simple coding and software engineering, to advanced skills in machine learning and artificial intelligence. This event aims to explore how can governments and companies support the retraining of people lacking these skills as well as establishing which skills the digital future will require.
Speakers:
- Anne Kjær Bathel, Founder and Managing Director, ReDI School of Digital Integration
- Duygu Güner, Bruegel Affiliate fellow
- Laura Maristany, Vice President of External Affairs, Bitwise Industries
- Astrid Ziebarth, Senior fellow tech and society, The German Marshall Fund of the United States
The event will kick off with a conversation between the speakers with Astrid Ziebarth chairing the conversation. This conversation will last around 45 minutes and once it has concluded, participants will have a 15-minute question and answer session. They will be able to put forward questions to the panelists through a sli.do available on the event's page.
Join this event to hear from experts on the skills needed for the digital future and how to retrain people in need of these skills.
