Code Week 2025 activities in Latvia were launched on October 3rd with the Code4Europe project conference for teachers. The event was organised by the Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association (LIKTA) as Code4Europe project partner together with the State Education Development Agency, RTU Riga Business School, Datorium EdTech and Information Technology Distance Learning Secondary School. Code4Europe mission is to inspire and empower the next generation of digitally-savvy Europeans, ensuring that programming and tech skills are accessible to all.
The conference was opened by Elīna Lidere, Senior Consultant at the Office of the State Secretary of the Ministry of Education and Science. LIKTA project expert Andras Krasavina presented the news and planned activities of the "Code4Europe" project, calling for the same active involvement, organisation, and promotion of a wide range of events during Code Week 2025, from 13 to 27 October, as well as at any other time afterwards.
Edijs Freimanis, a representative of the Teacher Professional Support Department of the State Education and Development Agency, shared the latest data from a survey of teachers and students on the use of AI tools, providing valuable insights into the practice and challenges of AI integration.
During the second part of the conference, participants had the opportunity to participate practically in a workshop led by Linda Sinka, a project manager at RTU Riga Business School and member of AI Studio Council. Participants tried out various artificial intelligence tools, emphasizing the need for educators to acquire practical skills.
