Small Grants for Grassroots Coding Projects in Romania (EU Code Week)

Context
As part of the Code4Europe consortium, this cascading funding initiative supports EU Code Week’s mission to foster inclusive digital education through local projects. It emphasises boosting digital skills for youth, with a special focus on girls, via hands-on programming and community engagement
Goals
- Fund innovative, scalable grassroots coding projects.
- Integrate programming into educational environments and increase participation.
- Build community collaboration among stakeholders.
- Prioritize projects reducing gender gaps and promoting diversity in STEM
Eligible entities
- Primary, lower- and upper-secondary schools
- NGOs
- Coding clubs
- educational institutions or organisations with an official legal declaration
- Must be located in Romania.
- Legal organisations must submit a signed statement by their legal representative
Funding
- Total funding: 5 000 EUR
- Total number of awarded projects: 3
- First prize: €2,500
- Second prize: €1,500
- Third prize: €1,000
Timeline
- Call launched: 18 June 2025
- Deadline for applications: 6 August 2025
- Winner announcement: by 6 September 2025
