Email Attachment Analysis (CYRUS)

Single offer

'Email Attachment Analysis' is a short online course, developed within the framework of the Digital Europe Programme-funded CYRUS project (Enhancing employees’ cybersecurity skills for better protection against cybersecurity attacks). The project aims to support the capacity of companies and SMEs engaged in the transport and manufacturing sectors in Europe to adequately address, combat and prevent cyber incidents and attacks.

Why this course?

This training provides participants with the skills to identify and analyse potentially malicious email attachments, a common vector for cyber threats such as malware delivery, credential theft and system exploitation. The course covers different attachment types, attack techniques and methods for detecting and mitigating email-based threats.

Through hands-on exercises, participants will use both offline tools (sandbox environments, hex editors, malware scanners) and online platforms (VirusTotal, Anyrun, AbuseIPDB) to assess suspicious files and detect potential risks. The training is ideal for cybersecurity professionals, IT administrators, incident responders and anyone involved in email security.

Learning outcomes

Upon completing this training, participants will be able to:

  • Use offline and online tools to identify, extract and analyse email attachments;
  • Conduct analysis on both Windows and Linux hosts.

Further details

The training is free of charge and offered as self-paced e-learning available on demand from April 2025 to October 2025 with a duration of approximately 1 hour.
