MSc Computer Science at the Athens University of Economics

The Athens University of Economics' Faculty of Information Technology Sciences offers a Master’s Degree (MSc) programme in Computer science. The programme aims to provide students with knowledge on cutting-edge areas of Computer Science and to develop their ability to conduct research, in order to prepare them to further their academic studies with a PhD in the Department, or continue within their professional aspirations. The programme focuses on the following areas:

Objective of the programme
The aim of the MSc Computer Science is to provide a high level and wide range of postgraduate studies in the field of Computer Science and to equip graduates with the necessary knowledge and skills for their professional development in research, academic, or other positions within the labour market. The MSc follows the rapid evolution of this scientific field, combining an introduction to modern technology trends, practical training, and also the chance for students to actively participate in cutting-edge research.
The programme is accessible for graduates of higher education establishments or technical education institutions whose subject matter is related to IT.
About the programme
This is a 12-month programme with a total of 75 ECTS. To successfully complete the MSc Computer Science programme, students are required to:
- Succeed in 10 courses of the programme., where each course is equivalent to 6 ECTS units (total of 60 ECTS).
- Submit a masters' thesis, equivalent to 15 ECTS units. Τhe thesis is research oriented, and it is assigned to the student, at the latest, at the end of the second semester of the student 's studies.
The courses are held in Greek and/or English. Attendance is free of charge.
Curriculum
The curriculum can be personalised by the students. There is only one compulsory course for all students, "Research Methodology", while the rest of the courses are elective and are chosen by students after the approval of the counseling Professor. The curriculum includes the following subjects:
