The Internet Foundation is an independent, business-driven and non-profit organization that works to ensure that the Internet contributes positively to individuals and society.

As a foundation, its purpose is established in its statutes, which mean that the organization must ensure a strong and secure internet infrastructure that meets today's and future needs in Sweden. The Internet Foundation also promotes research, education and teaching in Internet technology and its use.

The Internet Foundation is responsible for the Internet's Swedish top-level domain .se and also manages the operation and administration of the top-level domain .nu. Through its business operations, revenue is generated that funds a range of initiatives aimed at enabling people to use the internet in the best possible way. The Internet Foundation also strives to increase knowledge about internet use in Sweden and the understanding of how digitization affects society.
