European Initiatives

The Digital Opportunity Traineeships is a European institutional initiative, funded through the Erasmus+ programme, which aims to provide an opportunity for recent graduate and students to gain practical and valuable experience in the area of technology in a company abroad.

This EU initiative is coordinated by ESN - Erasmus Student Network, and aims to match the needs of companies in need of digitally skilled workforce, with students and recent graduates looking for a first experience in the tech sector. This way, the Digital Opportunity Traineeships tackles a variety of objectives: maintaining Europe's global competitiveness in a fast-changing environment; increasing employability of recent graduates and students; helping companies, from small and medium sized organisations (SMEs) to large corporations to  find workforce with a skills set that suits current digital trends.

Companies participating in the programme cover a variety of fields and types of emerging technologies. Digital Opportunity Traineeships can be carried out in any of the fields below:

  • Installation, maintenance and management of information technology (IT) systems and networks.

Students located in Erasmus+ Partner Countries can also participate. Trainees receive on average €500/month, depending on the member state through a grant via their university.
