European Initiatives

The REFRAME project, co-funded by the Erasmus+ programme of the European Union, offers an excellence platform for Work Based Learning paths (WBL).

Work based learning is an education approach, which combines knowledge with practical experience to offer a path towards subject expertise and employment at the same time. Targeting students, teachers and vocational education and training (VET) providers, the initiative offers a wide range of online tools and guidance to support the actors, involved in the design, delivery and evaluation processes of work-based learning processes. The initiative's resources are available in 4 EU languages (Italian, Dutch, French and English).

The initiative supports schools and VET providers and organisations through opportunities for co-design of WBL processes and programmes, such as apprenticeships and work experience and placements. Through increased cooperation between businesses, VET and training providers and learners, REFRAME provides an environment in which innovative work based learning paths can be developed, and supports the transition of younger people to the world of work. The REFRAME platform is organised in three sections, targeting organisations, training and VET providers and students and offers a wide range of tutorials, videos and links to open-source learning platforms. A common glossary and library, as well as guidance and advice for each group is also available.

The REFRAME initiative's methodology is based on the European Qualifications Framework (EQF) and works towards promoting long-term commitment amongst VET providers, employers, and policymakers on a European level.
