The association is a professional organization dedicated to supporting English language teaching and learning in Hungary. Affiliated with the larger international organization IATEFL, a global network of English language teaching professionals, the association’s primary goals include providing professional development opportunities for English language teachers, promoting best practices in English language teaching, fostering collaboration and networking among English language professionals in Hungary, and advocating for the importance of English language education.
To achieve these goals, the association organizes a variety of events, including conferences, workshops, seminars, and webinars, where English language teachers can exchange ideas, learn new teaching methodologies, and discuss relevant issues in English language education. These events often feature presentations by leading experts in the field, as well as opportunities for teachers to share their own experiences and insights. In addition, the association publishes a newsletter and other resources to keep its members informed about the latest developments in English language teaching and to provide support and guidance to English language teachers throughout Hungary.
Since 2021, the association has also been organizing Summer Courses for Hungarian and international teachers, focusing on various topics such as media and digital literacy, inclusion, and more. The association is also planning to launch a blog to share recent findings in ELT and record podcasts with well-known and acknowledged speakers.
