SBG Dresden is a private, non-profit inter-company training centre with more the 70 years of experience in first professional and further training. In Eastern Germany, it is one of the largest centres for practical training in the fields of chemistry, pharmacy, biology, and physics, with more the 650 apprentices (EQF-4) being trained per year. SBG Dresden cooperates closely with more than 100 companies from the chemical and pharmaceutical industry, such as SME’s, multinational cooperations, and various research institutions. In addition, SBG Dresden also provides trainings to middle level managers (EQF-6) from the abovementioned industries.
As practical training provider, SBG Dresden anticipates and implements technical and pedagogical needs actively. Due to the modernisation of Dual VET training curricula with regards to digital skills for the training occupations of the chemical operator (2018) and the chemical/biological lab technician (2020), SBG Dresden develops, pilots, and evaluates the pedagogical-sound use of selected educational technologies like Augmented and Virtual Reality, 3D printing, and Artificial Intelligence (AI) in the offered trainings.
Since 2017 SBG Dresden has gained unique technical and media-pedagogical experience to plan, successfully implement and scale the use of selected educational technologies. Important contributions were made by EU projects like AR4VET (2017: Using Augmented Reality in Chemistry, IT, and Mechatronics), DIGI4VET (2018: Using Augmented Reality in Floristry and Chemistry (Chemical Plant), and VR in painting trade), DIOS (2020: Using Augmented Reality, 3D printing, IoT and 360° Videos in Chemistry, IT, Mechatronics and Electronics), and ARtemis (Using Augmented Reality, 360° video, and 3D bioprinting in Biology, Floristry and Landscaping).
SBG Dresden has 15 years of experience as project coordinator and partner in regional, national and EU projects (e.g. KA 1 and KA 2). It actively engages in fostering the knowledge transfer from research in training and vice versa. The participation in business and research councils, e.g. chamber of commerce, VR/AR Learning Network ensures access to decisionmakers and keeping always on the pulse of developments
