Checklist for gender equality in tech – Sweden

The gap between the number of men and women in leading positions in tech is a problem that TechSverige takes seriously. By 2030 TechSverige has therefore set a target of at least 40 % women in leadership roles. In order to facilitate the retention and recruitment of women to the industry, a checklist has been developed in consultation with a number of forward-looking member companies and experts in the field.
Background and objective of the Gender Checklist
TechSverige is a trade and employer organisation for companies in the tech sector in Sweden. TechSverige includes 1400 member companies, ranging from small start-ups to large multinational companies. Together with its member companies, TechSverige is tasked with creating the best conditions for the tech sector.
By 2030 TechSverige has set the target that at least 40 % of all leading roles in tech should be women. That is why TechSverige has now produced a checklist for gender equality that examines how to respond to this in companies. The checklist defines three key impacts for the success of the target: retaining women in the sector, increasing the proportion of women in technological leadership roles and attracting more female candidates for tech positions.
Why is the gender equality checklist a good example?
The project has resulted in a landing page targeting different roles within companies – e.g. CEO, HR manager and communication specialist. Each individual role has its own easy-to-understand checklist with good practice and concrete handheld advice. The checklists review proposals on how to maintain, increase the number and attract women to the industry. It is hoped that checklists will help to make knowledge more accessible and ultimately reduce the gap between men and women in leadership positions.
