Nuovi LIDI
Our pledge
The acronym LIDI stands for Laboratories for Intergenerational Digital Inclusion. It proposes an innovative educational format which combines the flexibility of content delivered through a MOOC with the benefit of the face-to-face attendance.
In practice, Senior and Junior citizens, together and in presence, attend a MOOC to learn how to better use their own devices and familiarize with the most common Apps and services. The two generations collaborate in missions designed to overcome challenges which put into practice the concepts gradually acquired. The Nuovi LIDI format is free of charge, homogeneous and inclusive.
The educational content (MOOC) is produced by University professors and experts and made available by the University of Urbino that certifies the content. The LIDI can be activated autonomously, by any public or private territorial organization (such as municipalities, libraries, schools, associations, companies etc). The format provides constant teaching quality, even in remote, isolated, or disadvantaged communities.

The project is structured in three steps: development, trial and roll out
- Development of the MOOC for the students and of the Handbook for the organisers of the LIDI.
The MOOC is the heart of Nuovi LIDI. It includes online teaching modules as well as check tests and hands-on exercises.. The current version of the MOOC will deliver 10 thematic lessons of about 2 hours each. They cover basic digital skills in line with the European reference framework DigComp 2.1. The Handbook is an essential complement of the MOOC and contains practical guidelines for any public or private territorial entity who wants to organise a LIDO in their community. - Trial of the Nuovi LIDI format through the activation of 40 LIDI by a number of schools all over Italy and additional LIDI run by a small number of territorial organizations who have subscribed to support the Project as pioneer promoter. To run a LIDO it's essential to provide a room (class) with wi-fi, to recruit a group of Seniors and Juniors and appoint someone to manage the recruitment and the activities schedule. In order to learn by doing, Seniors and Juniors participate in the Nuovi LIDI with their own mobile devices (smartphones and table
- Roll out of the format Nuovi LIDI through the launch of a campaign to promote the adoption of Nuovi LIDI by any public territorial institution or private organization (such as municipalities, libraries, companies, associations, parishes, schools) who wishes to enhance digital and social inclusion of its community. The Project will focus initially in particular on Municipalities and Libraries because previous contacts have been estabished with them during the development phase. The project will provide auxiliary material (Handbook, website, good practises..) and assistance (help desk) to support the adoption of the format and the organization of the LIDI.
