The global digital skills gap: current trends and future directions (2021)

The overarching aim of this study published by RAND Europe was to carry out a scoping study to examine the evidence associated with various aspects of the current digital skills landscape, focusing primarily on the digital skills gap.
The document tries to better understand whether and why the digital skills gap is widening, as well as its implications for digital and social inequalities, and what various stakeholders are doing in response.
To do this, an analysis of the key trends that are driving the digital skills gap at a global or macro level was conducted; and some of the practical steps that are being taken to address this challenge and potentially ‘close’ the digital skills gap was equally examined.
