Keys to the future of education and talent
In relation to Education, in Spain, we observe:
- A high percentage of youth unemployment and early school leaving (4.3 points above the EU average).
- In the first quarter of 2023 the unemployment rate of young people aged 16-29 was 22.61%, while the European average is 14%.
- 22% of 15-year-olds have repeated at least once since Primary, when the OECD average for repeaters is 9%.
- Spanish students have lowered their score in reading comprehension and in Mathematics and Science since 2012 by 14 and 11 points respectively according to the 2018 PISA report.
- Spain in 2021 reinvested 4.6% of its GDP in education, while the average in European countries was 5%.
At AMETIC we believe that education is the basis of progress and talent is the engine of the future. In a world in constant change, a firm and lasting commitment is essential to ensure a quality, equitable and excellence-oriented education system. Therefore, we are promoting the Pact for Integral Transformation for Education and Talent in order to achieve a positive impact on the quality and development of talent, innovation, adaptation to the labour market, reduction of inequalities and attractiveness for investments, all these key elements for sustainable economic growth, a better competitiveness of the Spanish business fabric and the generation of employment.
We invite you to be part of the day of presentation of this Pact, a space for dialogue and reflection where key actors from the educational and business field will join together to promote a Pact for the Integral Transformation for Education and Talent. Our goal is to lay the foundations for a broad consensus that drives reforms needed to strengthen the education system and empower talent in all its forms.
