Digital Skills & Jobs Platform – supporting Latvian digital skills stakeholders to reach Europe's Digital Decade goals

On 25 May, the Latvian Information and Communication Technology Association (LIKTA) organized an online seminar "Shaping the Digital Decade together - how Digital Skills & Jobs Platform could support NC partners and digital skills stakeholders in Latvia", where participants were introduced to both the European Digital Skills & Jobs Platform and the Latvian NC platform

The Latvian National Digital skills and Jobs Coalition (named eSkills Partnership) was established in March 2013, but the digital skills partners have been actively cooperating before. Since the beginning of the Coalition, partners have been implementing large scale digital skills training projects for small and medium sized enterprises (SMEs), the workforce, ICT professionals, young people and all citizens.

More than 200 Latvian digital skills stakeholders took part in the seminar, including representatives from the ICT industry enterprises and associations, digital innovation hubs, educational institutions and regional training centres, libraries, non-governmental organisations, government and municipal institutions as well as other stakeholders all over Latvia involved in promoting digital skills.

The first part of the seminar the European Commission Policy Officer Jakub KAJTMAN presented in detail the opportunities offered by the European Digital Skills & Jobs Platform. The second part of the seminar focused on the opportunities of the Latvian NC platform, as well as the activities of the Ventspils Digital Centre, the different resources to be used and examples of good practice.

The participants of the seminar found both presented platforms very useful, emphasizing that it is a great opportunity to share digital skills resources and find information. Latvian digital skills stakeholders agreed to share their resources and the best practices on the European Digital Skills & Jobs Platform and the Latvian NC platform more actively.

The seminar was organised with support of the European Commission’s Innovation and Networks Executive Agency CEF TELECOM Calls 2019 programme. Contract No INEA/CEF/ICT/A2019/2065474
