On 18 July 2022 a new partnership has been launched in the framework of the Pact for Skills initiative, with the aim of boosting digital skills in the industry world.

This new partnership is the result of the support and cooperation of the European Commission, EU associations, companies, organisations, trade unions, universities, training providers and national federations. The main aim is to enable the upskilling and reskilling of the workforce and attract more people to the digital industry. Furthermore, this new partnership will help achieve Europe's green and digital transition goals, by supporting individuals and organisations in acquiring essential digital skills.

“The Digital Ecosystem’s Skills Partnership under the Pact for Skills will take a leading role in making the EU economy fit for the challenges of the future. It will also inspire others – whether in the Digital Ecosystem or any other industrial ecosystem – to turn digital opportunities into successful business models that benefit citizens and businesses alike.” - Thierry Breton, Commissioner for Internal Market

The labour skills of the partners in the digital sector will be the first area of attention of the partnership. Then, partners will develop common targets such as monitoring future developments on upskilling and reskilling, such as the number of workers who need to be reskilled. Furthermore, the new partnership will collaborate closely with other ones already in place in other industries where digital skills are essential, as the Digital Skills & Jobs Coalition. It will look for opportunities for cooperation and synergy with other ongoing projects.

The new cooperation is part of a framework of commitments in other industrial ecosystems under the Pact for Skills, one of the flagship initiatives under the European Skills Agenda.
